The Office of Indigenous Education would like to thank the student artists who have allowed us to use their artwork throughout our website and the art teachers who have shared their students' work with us. We are happy to showcase the accomplishments of Indigenous students throughout New York State and welcome submissions anytime.

The student created this digital image with a Wacom 1 to 1 tablet to commemorate the experiences of Indigenous students who were forced to attend residential boarding schools in the United States and Canada.

Student artists DESTYNNE ELEAZER and MACKENZIE SMITH, SHINNECOCK NATION - Studio In Art students painted these self-portraits in acrylic paint using a monochromatic scale for the values of face. They identified all of the values of their selfie photograph, mixed tints and shades, and then painted it using various types of brushes.
Student artist ELI PHILLIPS, SHINNECOCK NATION - Eli created this portrait drawing, titled Thoughts, using various charcoal drawing techniques, some of which he devised. He added tape to mask parts of the paper and also added water to create drips of charcoal.
